Learn About Marvel Movie Poster Design from Artist James Verdesoto
In its first 10 years in existence, Marvel Studios has released 20-full length features that all tie the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) together, each of which was promoted using eye-catching teaser and theatrical posters. You’ve seen the movies, so you had to have seen all of the posters, but how many of them do you actually remember and why?
In a very informative video created for Vanity Fair, James Verdesoto, the artist behind the memorable movie posters for Pulp Fiction, Girl, Interrupted and Training Day, among others, breaks down which MCU posters were successful and which ones were disasters. Verdesoto points out the inspirations for many of them and explains how perspective, colors and shapes can combine on a good poster to tell the viewer what the story is about.
I did not remember very many of those posters at all. Interesting video.
