Exciting First Teaser Trailer for Thunderbolts* Promises a Return to Form for Marvel

While it is billed as a “teaser,” the new trailer for Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* might as well be a full-blown theatrical trailer. Chock-full of character moments, comedy and intrigue, the teaser is a long-awaited return to form for the Marvel Studios of old (pre-Wave Four). In fact, one of the top commentators on the trailer perfectly encapsulated the way many of us Marvel Heads are feeling about it:

If you’re wondering about the asterisk at the end of the title, your guess is as good as ours. Some speculate that it might reference the fact that the title is not set and that the actual name of the movie might be Thunderbolts: New Avengers or simply New Avengers, while others have pointed out the similarity between the team dynamic and the comic book Dark Avengers.

Careful who you assemble.

Thunderbolts* was directed by Jake Schreier from a script by Eric Pearson, Lee Sung Jin, and Joanna Calo. The cast includes Florence Pugh as Black Widow/Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
