We were very excited for writer-director David Lowery‘s (The Old Man & the Gun) The Green Knight after the suspenseful teaser trailer dropped back in February 2020. It was originally slated to be released in May 2020 but it was shelved due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. Thankfully, A24 decided to hold out for the end of of the pandemic to release the film, rather than release it digitally, so that we can all become engulfed in the dark epic fantasy in theaters. To reignite interest in The Green Knight, A24 has released a series of stunning character posters featuring the tagline “One Year Hence” to denote the passage of time since its original release date.

An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, ‘The Green Knight’ tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight (Ralph Ineson), a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger.
