Star Wars: Two New TV Spots for The Rise of Skywalker Plus BTS Franchise Featurettes
“Let the final battle…begin.”
Fittingly, it is the man who started all of the galaxy-wide strife that we call Star Wars who kicks off and then sends off once again the latest TV spots for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga. After infiltrating the Jedi Council and usurping the Republic right out from under them in the prequel trilogy, Sheev Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), aka Darth Sidious, created a terrible new Empire to rule the galaxy through fear and intimidation, with himself the anointed all-powerful Emperor in the original trilogy. Now, on the eve of the final victory of the First Order over the Resistance in the sequel trilogy, Palpatine and his Empire are back to squash all comers and plunge the galaxy into eternal darkness. That is, unless Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac), Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), Chewie (Joonas Suotamo), Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Lando (Billy Dee Williams) can somehow pull together, rally others to their cause, and maybe, just maybe, turn Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) back to the light, back to being Ben Solo, the last Skywalker.
If you’re from the first generation of Star Wars fans and the original cast and characters will always hold the most cherished place in your love of the franchise, Disney has also released two poignant featurettes encompassing the history of Star Wars, complete with behind-the-scenes footage from the original trilogy.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was written (with Chris Terrio) and directed by J.J. Abrams. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, Domhnall Gleeson, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant also star.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens on December 20th. The run time was recently revealed to be two hours and twenty-one minutes.
