Marvel Movie Nooz: Salma Hayek in Eternals, Spider-Man Gets Cut, Black Widow BTS

The Eternals

Another high-profile actor is being mentioned in connection with Marvel’s Phase Four franchise about a virtually immortal race of superhumans and their malformed “Deviant” cousins. According to TheWrap, Salma Hayek Pinault is in talks to join Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie,  Ma Dong-seok and Kumail Nanjiani in the centuries-spanning epic. Keanu Reeves is also rumored to be in talks for a role in the movie, which will be directed by Chloé Zhao (The Rider), from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

The Eternals is “tentatively set” for a September 2019 start date, apparently under the “secret” shooting title Sack Lunch. It is aimed at a November 6, 2020, theatrical release.

Spider-Man: Far from Home

While doing an interview in support of the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, headlining actor Tom Holland revealed that his version of Spider-Man — or, at least, Peter Parker — was almost included alongside Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham and Spider-Man Noir in the dimension-hopping hit animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Alas, it never came to pass and Holland remains “heartbroken” about missing the opportunity. Holland’s Far From Home co-star Jacob Batalon admitted that he actually lobbied to be in the movie as “Ganke Lee,” Miles’ friend and the comic book character his movie character “Ned Leeds” is partially modeled after.

Spider-Man: Far From Home opens in theaters on July 5th.

Black Widow

It seems that new behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the fallen Avenger’s first solo movie are leaking online everyday. So far, nothing of any great import has been leaked, but the latest photos reveal that Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) might be teaming up with another Black Widow in the movie, Yelena Belova, a fellow Red Room Academy spy and assassin. A crate labeled “Yelena” can be seen in one photo and Florence Pugh looks an awfully lot like the comic book version of the “blonde Black Widow.”

More photos reveal an actor in striking armor, but this character’s possible inclusion in the movie — and introduction to live action! — is too awesome to ruin so we won’t post the images here. If you don’t mind possibly spoiling the villain reveal, then go ahead and check out the photos here and here.

Cate Shortland is directing, from a script by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson. The cast includes David Harbour, Rachel Weisz and O-T Fagbenle.
