Ghost in the Shell Super Bowl Spot Mirrors its Anime Inspiration
The Major (Scarlett Johansson), a one-of-a-kind combat cyborg, leads the elite counter-cyberterrorism task force Section 9 against a powerful new enemy who will stop at nothing to sabotage Hanka Robotics’ advanced artificial intelligence cyber technology.
Based on the Japanese manga of the same name by Masamune Shirow, Ghost in the Shell was directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) from a script by Jamie Moss and Ehren Kruger.
Takeshi Kitano stars as Section 9 Chief Aramaki, with Michael Pitt as Kuze, Pilou Asbæk as Batou, Lasarus Ratuere as Ishikawa, Chin Han as Togusa, Tawanda Manyimo as Borma, and Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouélet.
Ghost in the Shell opens March 31, 2017.
