Final Gruesome Trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Antlers Starring Keri Russell [NSFW]

The Wendigo of Native American myths and legends never had antlers — just ask Dr. Emily Zarka of Monstrum — but the creature depicted in Larry Fessenden‘s 2001 monster movie of the same name seems to have permanently altered the pop culture perception of the mythological cannibalistic creature. So synonymous have the appendages become with the creature that producer Guillermo del Toro put them on his latest movie monster and even named the film after them.

A small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.

Antlers was directed by Scott Cooper. It was written by C. Henry Chaisson & Nick Antosca and Scott Cooper and is based uon the short story The Quiet Boy by Nick Antosca. The movie was produced by Guillermo del Toro, David Goyer and J. Miles Dale. Jeremy T. Thomas, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane and Amy Madigan also star.

The movie is tentatively slated for a February 19, 2021 release.

If they re-open Theaters I know my horror loving wife would love to see this on the big screen. Nice write up, look forward to sharing the article and clip with the wife.

  • Thanks, Sir Green! I think it looks pretty good. I coincidentally just watched that episode of ‘Monstrum’ the same day and Dr. Zarka was lamenting that pop culture gave the Wendigo antlers and there they are!

The only reference I have of the Wendigo is the white furry one from Hulk comics. Didn’t know about all of the native stories. Looks okay. Date night movie on the couch tho.
