Like the prongs of a trident, Aquaman news comes in three varieties today — yeah, yeah, we know the movie Aquaman’s spear has five points — from a short video of Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard) washing up on shore in Australia, to a shot of Julian Lewis Jones looking badass as the King of Atlantis in Justice League, to a punny tweet from baby-faced director James Wan that the Aquaman solo movie has wrapped production.

And, as an added bonus (because otherwise my trident opener wouldn’t have worked as well), here’s Momoa and Heard hamming it up at the wrap party.
Aquaman was written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad) from a story by Wan and Geoff Johns. The cast includes Patrick Wilson as Aquaman’s half-brother, Orm; Temuera Morrison as Aquaman’s father, Thomas Curry; Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, science advisor to the throne of Atlantis; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Aquaman’s archenemy, Black Manta; Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus of the undersea kingdom of Xebel; and Academy Award-winner Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother, Queen Atlanna.
Aquaman is slated to open on December 21, 2018.
