Thandie Newton in Talks for Young Han Solo Movie

The pieces of the new Han Solo prequel movie are coming together like Chewie readying a new game of Dejarik. (If you got that Star Wars reference, you should feel right at home on this site.) According to Variety, Thandie Newton, who recently turned in a critically-acclaimed performance as Maeve Millay on HBO’s Westworld, is in talks to join the cast in an unspecified role.

Little else is known about the movie, except that it takes place between the events depicted in Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One, when Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) were scoundrels-in-training.  Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing from a script by Star Wars veteran Lawrence Kasdan, who penned the script with his son, Jon. Emilia Clarke is the only other confirmed cast member, with Pheobe Waller-Bridge and Woody Harrelson rumored.

The Untitled Han Solo movie is slated for release in 2018.
