Spring is almost upon us and with the arrival of warmer weather comes a pantheon of colorfully-clad heroes to our local multiplexes, with Marvel’s first female hero-headlining Captain Marvel currently crushing the box office, the original Captain Marvel about to make his theatrical debut in DC’s SHAZAM!, and, of course, the be all and end all of superhero movies, Avengers: Endgame, so close to release we can almost taste the Infinity dust on our lips.
But, if you’re looking for fire and not ash, the “dark horse” comic book movie for you is director Neil Marshall‘s (West World, Game of Thrones) rebooted, revamped, reinvigorated Hellboy adaptation, which promises more cursing and blood than its competitors at the box office and the previous two Hellboy movies combined. Check out these fierce new movie posters and stills from the upcoming movie, which promises us a hero we deserve.

The legendary half-demon superhero Hellboy (David Harbour) is called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.
Hellboy was written by Andrew Cosby (Eureka TV series), Christopher Golden (Ghosts of Albion) and creator Mike Mignola. Daniel Dae Kim, Brian Gleeson, Sasha Lane, Sophie Okonedo, Penelope Mitchell, Alistair Petrie and Ian McShane also star.
Hellboy opens in theaters on April 12th.
