First Look at Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight in Camera Test for The Batman

The casting of Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the DC/Warner Bros. franchise relaunch The Batman was met with a fair amount of skepticism from movie fans who were only familiar with Pattinson’s more sparkly role as the brooding Edward Cullen in the Twilight series and not his acclaimed performances in movies like Good Time. But fatigue over Batfleckgate and word from writer-director Matt Reeves that Pattinson stole the part from Nicholas Hoult and other actors in contention for the role thanks to a killer costume screen tests set many minds at ease and lessened, if not ended, the online controversy.

Pattinson described the costume test as “pretty humiliating” because of just how difficult it was to put the suit on in the first place, but added, “You do feel powerful immediately,” once it is on. Now, Reeves is giving us all the opportunity to judge for ourselves whether the former tween heartthrob has what it takes to fill Batman’s cowl by giving us a first look at Pattinson in a newly-designed Batsuit in a brief monochromatic camera test set to a moody, noir-tinged score by composer Michael Giacchino.

We love it, but let us know what you think by sounding off in the comment section below!

The Batman is slated for release on June 25, 2021.
