Tom Hardy to Star in Sony’s Venom Movie
With the rights to Spider-Man complicated by Sony’s partnership with Marvel Studios, Sony has decided to move forward with movies related to Spider-Man, but not starring the ol’ Web-Head himself, as first revealed in March with an October 2018 release date for Venom. Now, we know that Spider-Man’s one-time costume and long-time nemesis will be portrayed by Tom Hardy, who makes the leap from the DCEU, where he played Batman villain Bane, to Sony’s branch of the Marvel Universe as Eddie Brock, jealous colleague of Peter Parker’s and host for the alien symbiote after Parker frees himself from the parasitic organism.
