Ant-Man and The Wasp’s Evangeline Lilly Tells Marvel Men to Toughen Up

Male actors have a long history of complaining about wearing the superhero costumes that have brought them so much fame and fortune over the years, particularly since the dawn of the “Marvel decade.” Most recently, Chadwick Boseman, who broke records and earned his place in Hollywood history with his headlining turn in Black Panther, said that he had to get into a “Zen space” to wear the suit.

It’s hard for the vast majority of us fans to have sympathy for these actors and their wardrobe complaints considering how much money they make for the work that they do, but even Evangeline Lilly , who co-headlines the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp as Hope Van Dyne, aka The Wasp, has had enough of the whining:

I have been hearing Marvel male superheroes complain about their suits for years. And I got into my suit and I was wearing it, working in it, doing my thing, and I was like, ‘Just not that bad.’ Do I have the most comfortable suit in the MCU? Or have men not had the life experience of being uncomfortable for the sake of looking good?

Ant-Man & the Wasp was directed by Peyton Reed from a script by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari and Rudd. Paul Rudd returns as Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man; Michael Douglas returns as original Ant-Man Hank Pym; Michael Peña returns as Luis; with Michelle Pfeiffer as original Wasp, Janet van Dyne; Laurence Fishburne as the size-changing hero Bill Foster, aka Goliath; and Walton Goggins and Hannah John-Kamen as the villains Sonny Burch and Ghost.

Ant-Man & the Wasp opens in theaters on July 6th.
