Paul Bettany Joins the Cast of the Young Han Solo Movie
Donald Glover may be done shooting his scenes as young Lando Calrissian in the still-untitled Young Han Solo prequel, but that doesn’t mean Ron Howard has wrapped filming, as some have mistakenly reported. In fact, Howard just added a new member to the cast: Paul Bettany, who has had a long relationship with Lucasfilm sister company Marvel Studios as the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S. and as the self-aware super-android Vision.
Bettany’s character is a mystery, but he appears to be wearing an outfit reminiscent of Han Solo’s classic attire, but with a coat instead of a vest and an overcoat or cape over his shoulders. We’re guessing he’s a native of Solo’s (Alden Ehrenreich) home planet of Corellia.

Lawrence and Jon Kasdan wrote the script, which focuses on the formative years of the young smuggler and scoundrel (Ehrenreich), his gambling buddy (Glover) and a big walking carpet who owes him a life debt (Joona Suotamo). Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Emilia Clarke, Pheobe Waller-Bridge and Michael K. Williams also star.
The Untitled Han Solo movie is slated for release in 2018.
