John Cena Teases X-O Manowar Role in Valiant Comics Movie Adaptation

John Cena is the latest professional wrestler-turned-actor with a possible superhero role in his future, if his own hype can be believed. Dave Bautista led the way, portraying the serious-ly funny Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, with Dwayne Johnson announced to play Black Adam in an upcoming DC Entertainment/Warner Bros. movie that same year. We’ve gotten more of Bautista’s Drax in Guardians, Vol. 2 and the last two Avengers movies, but Guardians, Vol. 3. is still a long ways off and the Black Adam solo movie is still only in development.

Before you lament the lack of wrestler superheroes on the big screen, consider making a switch from Marvel and DC movies to Valiant Comics adaptations. Bautista is currently in talks to play the title role in the Eternal Warrior movie, the second movie — after Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot — adapted from Valiant Comics and Bautista’s second superhero role. And, based on a recent Cena tweet, Bautista may be getting company in the Valiant Universe from his former “Armageddon” partner as Aric of Dacia, aka X-O Manowar, a violent Visigoth warrior who was abducted by aliens, fused with a sentient version of Iron Man-like armor.
