Though writer-director Shane Black (The Nice Guys) has said not to expect to see a “Predator lurking in rich, fancy swimming pools” in the new movie debuting next year, chairman and CEO of 20th Century Fox Stacey Snyder has confirmed that it is “set in suburbia” and focuses on “a little boy and his dad.” That might not sound like the Predator you were expecting, but that’s kind of the point: Snyder calls Black’s take on the franchise “unexpected and utterly fresh.”
To showcase the new setting, Fox has released one of the better motion posters we’ve seen lately.
Black co-wrote Predator with Fred Dekker. The cast includes Jacob Tremblay, Trevante Rhodes, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Jane.
Predator is slated to open on August 3, 2018.
