New Still Images from Captain Marvel Reveal the Return of Ronan, Young Nick Fury and the Coming of the Skrulls
With that tantalizing tag at the end of Avengers: Infinity War and Marvel President Kevin Feige‘s comments about Captain Marvel being the “most powerful superhero…ever introduced” at Marvel still ringing in our ears, the arrival (return?) of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) to Earth in Captain Marvel is easily the most anticipated Marvel moment in recent memory, short of the debut of Avengers 4, of course.
We’ve seen set pics of her goofy green uniform, but Entertainment Weekly has dedicated its latest issue to Marvel’s first female hero to headline her own franchise, giving Captain Marvel the cover in her more-familiar red-and-blue costume and including still images that offer up confirmation that Ronan (Lee Pace) will return, show us what a young Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) looks like, and give us our first look at one of the greatest, most insidious, alien races in the Marvel Universe: the shapeshifting Skrulls!
Check out EW for more still images and behind-the-scenes pics from the set of Captain Marvel!
Captain Marvel was directed by the team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississipi Grind), from a script they wrote with Meg LeFauve,Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive & Carly Mensch. Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou repise their Guardians of the Galaxy roles as Ronan the Accuser and Korath. Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, and Jude Law also star.
Captain Marvel opens in theaters on March 8, 2019.
Her costume makes her look a bit stiff, but I am excited to see what she is all about. I loved stories involving the Skrulls when I used to read comics.
♥ Carol!!! ♥ Marvel finally gives us girlz a movie!
Finally the real Skrulls not those goofy monsters from AVengers 1.
I hope Lee Pace does a better job with Ronan. I thought he was pretty mush-mouthed in Guardians.
