Awesome Character Posters and Official Synopsis for Solo: A Star Wars Story

We welcome every new installment of the Star Wars saga, but we have to admit to having some trepidation about Lucasfilm’s latest spin-off movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story. Creative conflicts aside, the thought of replacing an iconic movie character made famous by one of the highest grossing and popular actors of all time with a young, relatively-unknown actor had us quaking in our knee-high leather fly-boy boots.

The first footage that was revealed during the Super Bowl went a long way to making us feel better about the movie. It looked dirty and gritty, just like a smuggler’s life should be, but it still maintained that Star Wars sense of adventure, and the new character posters — which are so reminiscent of the old Del Rey adventure books — promise a free-wheeling, cavalier tone that we hope finds its way into the movie.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca (Joona Suotamo) and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

Lawrence and Jon Kasdan wrote the script. Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany and Pheobe Waller-Bridge also star.

Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on May 25th.
