Marvel Goes Into Production on Hawkeye Spin-Off Series Echo Starring Alaqua Cox

Maya Lopez, as played by Alaqua Cox, was a breakout character in Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye streaming series, just as the deaf villain-turned-hero became a sensation after debuting in the pages of Daredevil comic books, but she’s not “Echo” yet. At least, she wasn’t when we last saw her speeding away from the Avenging Archer (Jeremy Renner) on a motorcycle in the Hawkeye finale episode. But, now that Marvel is officially in production on an Echo solo series, there’s a good chance she will be soon. To kick off production, Marvel released this first-look image of Cox as Lopez in new streaming series. Let’s just hope that Maya adopts the white palm-print look of her comic book inspiration along with the title name of her alter-ego!

Streaming exclusively on Disney, the origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.

Echo episodes are being directed by Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai). The cast includes Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs and Cody Lightning, with Zahn McClarnon and Graham Greene.

Echo will stream on Disney+ in 2023!
