Mark Ruffalo Welcomes Tatiana Maslany to the Hulk Family

Prompted by a Disney casting announcement indicating Marvel was looking for an “Alison Brie-type” to play Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, in the new Disney+ series, fans jumped on the news and the social media frenzy was so extreme that it even prompted the actress herself to comment on the rumor. Whether she was ever actually up for the role or not, Brie will not be playing She-Hulk.

Sources close to Deadline leaked that Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany was the studio’s choice to play She-Hulk and loose-lipped Mark Ruffalo confirmed it with a tweet welcoming Malany to the Hulk “family.”

In the comic books, Jennifer Walters gains the power of the Hulk, but retains her memories and personality, after receiving a blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk. Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk is expected to appear in the new Disney+ series, though it is uncertain how closely, if at all, She-Hulk’s origin will follow that of the comics. Rick and Morty writer Jessica Gao is scripting the series.

If you aren’t too familiar with the Hulk’s lawyer cousin, check out the video below.

I dunno. I was against Brie Larsen and then I was for Brie. Then they announced Maslany and I was like “who?’ Never saw Orphan black but I have heard good things about Maslany. I will give it a shot.
