We loved watching Keanu Reeves get back into action in John Wick and seeing him share screen time with Laurence Fishburne once again in John Wick: Chapter 2 was awesome, but what we would really love to see is Reeves revisit the world of The Matrix and the iconic role of Neo. A fourth Matrix movie has always seemed like an impossibility considering how The Matrix Revolutions brought the trilogy to a somewhat unsatisfying end for most fans and how Andy and Lana Wachowski have struggled to find an audience for their more recent movies, but if anyone can do the impossible, it’s Neo, er, Reeves, who is once again a hot commodity thanks to John Wick.
In a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies, Reeves said that he would consider it, but only if one condition was met:
The Wachowskis would have to be involved. They would have to write it and direct it. And then we’d see what the story is, but yeah, I dunno, that’d be weird, but why not?
Of course, Neo died at the end of The Matrix Revolutions, so how could the character return in another movie. To Reeves, that isn’t really a problem.
People die, stories don’t. People in stories don’t.
John Wick: Chapter 2 is currently in theaters.
