Ryan Reynolds Keeps Hope Alive for a Deadpool and Wolverine Team-Up Movie

One of the best gags in the original Deadpool was Wade Wilson’s (Ryan Reynolds) fourth wall-breaking references to Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman, including mention of “Pulverine,” an impression of Jackman’s Australian accent and a cut-out mask of Jackman’s face from People magazine that Deadpool wore under his own mask.

Reynolds has spoken frequently about his desire to see Deadpool and Wolverine share the same screen, even though Jackman stepped away from the role following Logan. With Deadpool 2 coming out next month, Reynolds is zipping around the world to promote the movie and continue his campaign to entice Jackman out of retirement, telling EW:

I already miss him as Logan, so I’m one of those guys that whenever I see him, I’m like, ‘Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We’ll do it together. It’ll be fun. Come on! On three. Here we go, together. One, two, three, together,’ and it’s always just me saying it.

Reynolds doesn’t just ask his good buddy to come out of retirement, he even shows up unannounced on Jackman’s birthday in full Deadpool regalia to make his point.

Deadpool 2 opens in theaters on May 18th.

  • “When you wish upon a star…” Anything is possible now that Disney controls all of Fox’s Marvel properties!

It will just be nuts when Deadpool and Wolverine finally run into the Avengers! Heck, I bet Deadpool would get along great with the Guardians “a-holes.” lol
