Men in Black Continuation Being “Fast Tracked” for 2019

The Men in Black movie franchise will continue, just not with Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) or Agent J (Will Smith). According to Deadline, Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, the writing duo behind Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight, have written a “contemporary” script that “acknowledges and builds on” the previous movies without including those iconic characters, much in the way Jurassic World inhabited the same world and timeline as the earlier Jurassic Park movies, but with new characters.

Sony Pictures is apparently so pleased with Holloway and Marcum’s script that they’ve already staked out a May 17, 2019, released date for the movie. There’s no word on how this continuation or spinoff will affect the rumored Men in Black – 21 Jump Street mashup that would have seen Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill donning the black suits and shades to combat alien threats around the globe.

The Men in Black movie franchise is adapted form the comic book created and written by Lowell Cunningham and illustrated by Sandy Carruthers that was originally published in 1990.
