One of the things that made the original Incredibles so spectacular was how writer-director Brad Bird portrayed just how grating the everyday annoyances of regular life — whiny kids, a broken car door, an annoying boss — would be to someone who used to be a superhero and how the comforts of home and family can turn claustrophobic in middle age. Based on the recently released synopsis and teaser posters for the long-overdue sequel, it looks like Bob Parr (Craig T. Nelson) is settling back in to the more domestic aspects of being a super Mr. Mom to allow his wife Helen, aka Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) to scratch her mid-life itch for adventure.
Helen (Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) by their side.
