Nexus: 2036 Short Starring Jared Leto Bridges Original Blade Runner and 2049 Sequel

Our friends at Collider debuted this first of three shorts — Nexus: 2036, directed by Luke Scott — bridging the gap between Ridley Scott‘s original Blade Runner, set in 2019, and the upcoming sequel, Denis Villeneuve‘s Blade Runner 2049.

Niander Wallace (Jared Leto) introduces a new line of “perfected” replicants called the Nexus 9, seeking to get the prohibition on replicants repealed.

Blade Runner 2049 was written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, from a story by Fancher, and is based on the world envisioned by the late Philip K. Dick. Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista and Edward James Olmos star.

Blade Runner 2049 opens on October 6th.
