Star Wars: Logan Director to Write and Direct Boba Fett Solo Movie

The coolest and most enigmatic villain to come out of the original Star Wars trilogy is finally getting his due. Boba Fett, the always-helmeted bounty hunter so badass that he has the nerve to talk back to Darth Vader will be featured in his own standalone solo movie not tied to the main saga in the vein of Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story.

According to THR, James Mangold, the man who gave Wolverine his grand send-off in Logan, will be writing and directing the Boba Fett movie, the plot of which will no doubt explain how the orphan boy last seen in Attack of the Clones holding the severed head of his father, Jango Fett, became the most notorious bounty hunter in the galaxy, and may even feature an early run-in with Han Solo, which would help to broaden the standalone movies’ connections to one another and to the aaga.

Lucasfilm is also currently in development on a young Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, with award-winning producer and director Stephen Daldry (The Hours) in talks to direct. No screenwriter for that project has been announced as of yet. Ewan McGregor has frequented expressed his interest in reprising the role and even proved on The Graham Norton Show that he he still has all of his lightsaber moves.
