New Movie Posters: Aquaman Goes Old School & Hellboy is All-New and All-Badass

Aquaman

Previous promotional materials for  James Wan‘s Aquaman have focused on the rugged good looks of title star Jason Momoa and his burly, barely-clothed and very tatted body. The last poster took a lot of flak for the cut-and-paste sea life so Warner Bros. went another route with this one, eschewing for the underwater scene for a more Arthurian design, this one revealing that Momoa will be sporting a green-and-orange costume right out of the comics.

Aquaman was written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad) from a story by Wan and Geoff Johns. The cast includes Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Aquaman’s half-brother, Orm; Temuera Morrison as Aquaman’s father, Thomas Curry; Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, science advisor to the throne of Atlantis; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Aquaman’s archenemy, Black Manta; Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus of the undersea kingdom of Xebel; Julian Lewis Jones as the king of Atlantis; and Academy Award-winner Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother, Queen Atlanna.

Aquaman opens in theaters on December 21st.

Hellboy

Like the latest Aquaman poster, the new poster for Neil Marshall‘s rebooted Hellboy appears to be ripped right from the comic books on which it is based, giving us a massive, terrifying vision of the demon spawn hero that makes Ron Perlman‘s version look downright cuddly. “Legendary AF” is right!

Hellboy (formerly Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen) was written by Andrew Cosby (Eureka TV series), Christopher Golden (Ghosts of Albion) and creator Mike Mignola. David Harbour stars in the title role, with Milla JovovichDaniel Dae Kim, Brian Gleeson, Sasha Lane, Sophie Okonedo, Penelope Mitchell, Alistair Petrie and Ian McShane also staring.

Hellboy is slated to open on April 12, 2019.
