After a decade of having one, two or even three Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies in theaters every year, it’s been incredibly strange to go over a year without one, let alone two years. The coronavirus pandemic forced Marvel to push back Black Widow from its May 2020 release, so the last MCU movie in theaters was Spider-Man: Far From Home, waaaaay back in July 2019. Thankfully, science, medicine and common sense are winning, and theaters are opening up once again.
In anticipation of the MCU’s triumphant return to cinema this July, Marvel has released a set of new character posters for Black Widow, including one for Marvel’s highly-anticipated new supervillain with “photographic reflexes,” Taskmaster (who we think is played by O.T. fagbenle, but we’ll have to wait and see)!
Black Widow was directed by Cate Shortland, from a script by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson. Scarlett Johansson returns as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, with Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian, Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff and O-T Fagbenle as Rick Mason, aka Taskmaster.
Black Widow explodes into theaters on July 9th!
