Godzilla: King of the Monsters Posters Spotlight the Terrifying Titans

Set in the same world as Gareth Edwards‘ 2017 Westernized reboot of the franchise, King of the Monsters, dives deep into the past of Godzilla to bring some classic Kaiju (Japanese for “strange beast”) or “Titans” from Godzilla’s storied past into the new movieverse. This time, the threat facing humanity has quadrupled, with crypto-zoological agency Monarch forced to contend with Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah, in addition to Godzilla. Three new character posters have just been released that offer up epic looks at the latest incarnations of these timeless Titans.

Rodan

First debuting in 1956, the mighty Rodan is a colossal Pteranodon with powerful armored skin and wings cable of propelling it at super speeds or generating destructive shockwaves.

Mothra

Initially headlining her own feature in 1961, Mothra has been depicted in the past as nearly immortal thanks to her ability to clone herself by laying eggs and the new version appears to have some sort of deadly bio-luminescence, in addition to being, you know, a monstrous flying moth.

Ghidorah

The three-headed monster debuted in 1964 and has been Godzilla’s arch-nemesis pretty much ever since. The monsters’s origin and powers have changed over the years, but its staple powers have been flight, regeneration and the ability to shoot lightning from its wings. The new version appears to be able to create and manipulate storms, as well.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters was written and directed by Michael Dougherty. Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins and Millie Bobby Brown star.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters opens in theaters on May 31, 2019.
