Get a Closer Look at the VFX Behind Iron Man’s New Armor in Avengers: Infinity War

When we’re scrunched down in our chair, hands gripping the armrests in anticipation as Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Wong (Benedict Wong) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) confront Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) minions in New York in Avengers: Infinity War , we’re so focused on the action that we barely notice the seamless special effects that sell us on this being a real conflict between real characters on a real street.

With Avengers: Infinity War now for purchase on 4K Blu-ray, DVD, and digital, the visual effects studio Framestore has released a video highlighting some of the 250 shots they completed for the movie, from Banner’s (Mark Ruffalo) fall to Earth to Spider-Man’s ride into space, and you will be amazed at what was practical and what was digital.

Avengers: Infinity War was directed by Anthony & Joe Russo (Captain America: Civil War) from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The super cast includes Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Bettany as Vision, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Cobie Smulders as Mariah Hill, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, Benedict Wong as Wong, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Racoon, Pom Klementieff as Mantis and Benicio del Toro as the Collector.

Wow… Speechless. That background city scene was fake? Crazy! CGI is getting so realistic.
