Director Ryan Coogler Expresses His Gratitude for Black Panther’s Success

In a heartfelt letter recently posted by Marvel, Black Panther co-writer and director Ryan Coogler expressed his appreciation to the fans, the press and to “the young ones” who helped to make his vision of “a fictional country on the continent of Africa, made up of a cast of people of African descent” a record-breaking success at the box office. Wakanda forever!

Black Panther follows T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) who, after the events of ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

Joe Robert Cole (The People v. O.J. Simpson:  American Crime Story) co-wrote Black Panther with Coogler. Michael B. JordanDanai Gurira, Daniel KaluuyaAndy Serkis, Martin Freeman, Academy Award-nominee Angela Bassett and Academy Award-winners Lupita Nyong’o and Forest Whitaker also star.
