DC Movie Nooz: Plastic Man Live-Action Movie, Joker’s Smoke Break and Birds of Prey
Plastic Man
One of DC Comics’ oldest acquisitions — the rubbery hero was purchased from Quality Comics in 1956 — Plastic Man is joining the increasingly light-hearted slate of superhero movies Warner Bros. has planned for its new and improved Extended Universe of films. According to THR, former co-founder of New Line Bob Shaye will executive produce, with newcomer Amanda Idoko writing the script for the “silly” action-adventure movie.
Plastic Man began his career on the other side of the law, as small-time crook “Eel” O’Brian, but turned to the light after gaining the abilty to stretch and shape every inch of his body during a botched robbery. The character headlined The Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show from 1979 to 1981 and had made numerous animated appearances ever since, but this will be his first live-action feature film appearance.
Joker
The “cautionary tale” set in the 1980s and existing outside of current DC movieverse continuity wrapped production on December 18th, but not before director Todd Phillips shared this teasing glimpse of Joaquin Phoenix in full Joker regalia during a quick break in shooting.
Joker was written by Phillips and Scott Silver and produced by Martin Scorsese. It is slated for release on October 4, 2019.
Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)
In a recent interview with Collider, writer Christina Hodson explained that the extra-long title of the superheroine team-up movie headlined by Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn was always an “unofficial aka, but she never thought it would be used.
I added it about a year or so ago, almost exactly as it is, just as an aka. I didn’t think we’d ever use it. We’d always used a working title, so I just had it as a cheeky little thing, on the front cover. And then, when we were talking about a title and brainstorming, we all kept drifting back to that one.
Rounding out the “Birds of Prey” trio are Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary. Chris Messina recently joined the cast as the psychotic Zsasz, marking the first big screen appearance of the classic Batman villain since Tim Booth portrayed the scarred killer in 2005’s Batman Begins. The movie is slated to open in theaters on February 7, 2020.

I just watched Inherent Vice again not too long ago. Joaquin was exceelent in that Looking forward to his Joker. Not sure if we need a Plastic Man movie unless they are going straight slapstick comedy.
Looking forward to the different take on the joker. Plastic Man movie, meh, however, Dana Snyder does a great job as the voice of Plastic Man in the animated Justice League series.
