Dave Bautista Has “Nowhere to Run” in Second Blade Runner 2049 Short

Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) plays Sapper Morton, a Replicant on the run in the second of three shorts directed by Luke Scott that bridge the gap between Ridley Scott‘s original Blade Runner, set in 2019, and the upcoming sequel, Denis Villeneuve‘s Blade Runner 2049. This short takes place in 2048, just one year before the movie, and showcases Bautista’s dramatic side (there’s still plenty of action!).

Blade Runner 2049 was written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, from a story by Fancher that is based on the world envisioned by the late Philip K. Dick. Harrison Ford, Ryan GoslingJared Leto, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, and Edward James Olmos also star.

Blade Runner 2049 opens on October 6th.

Hmm. I thought he was going to be the Roy Batty villain of the movie, but this short made him seem super sympathetic. Bautista’s on fire!
