Long before Iron Man ushered in the still-ongoing golden age of superhero movies, writer-director Brad Bird gave us one of the most perfect superhero movies ever created in The Incredibles. The movie borrowed heavily from Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four, but did the family dynamic better than Fox has done in its three attempts and we’ve yet to see an all-ages superhero movie as compelling. With the largest opening-weekend gross for a Pixar film at the time and a 97% Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes, a sequel seemed certain, but Bird said repeatedly that he wouldn’t revisit the Parrs unless he came up with “something that will be as good or better than the original.”
Bird apparently found that “good or better” story because we now have our first teaser trailer for Incredibles 2 and it is hilarious. The sequel will apparently focus more on Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) than Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) and will begin seconds after the end of the first movie.
