Zachary Levi Defends His “F-Bomb” Super Suit from Shazam!

The costume is pretty much a make-or-break deal for movie superheroes: too modern and “realistic” and the four-color essence of the character could get lost in translation; too comic-accurate and the audience might not be able to suspend disbelief enough to care about the character. When set photos of Zachary Levi in costume in David Sandberg‘s (Lights Out) Shazam! adaptation leaked online, at least one fan felt that it fell in the latter category, calling it a “crap suit.”

That didn’t sit too well with Levi, who responded to the comment during a recent Instagram live broadcast, saying:

Wow, Okay. Well, I don’t think it’s a crap suit. I think my suit is fucking bomb, to be perfectly honest, and I know there hasn’t been an officially released photo yet, but there have been incredibly high-quality photos that have been released. And I think any of you people out there who are still hung up on what the suit looks like are just wanting to be angry for angry’s sake.

Shazam! was written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. The cast includes Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana and Ron Cephas Jones as the Wizard, with Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans.

The movie opens in theaters on April 5, 2019.
