James Wan Announces Aquaman Has Started Filming

While the Justice League solo adventures of Flash and Batman have had no small amount of trouble getting off the ground, fellow Leaguers Wonder Woman and Aquaman are off and running. Wonder Woman opens in June and director James Wan just announced that the first ever Aquaman live-action movie has just started filming with Jason Momoa playing Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman.

Aquaman was written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad) from a story by Wan and Geoff Johns. The cast includes Amber Heard as Aquaman’s love interest, Mera, the “queen of the sea”; Patrick Wilson as Aquaman’s half-brother, Orm; Temuera Morrison as Aquaman’s father, Thomas Curry; Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, science advisor to the throne of Atlantis; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Aquaman’s archenemy, Black Manta; Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus of the undersea kingdom of Xebel; and Academy Award-winner Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother, Queen Atlanna.
