Ben Affleck’s Future as Batman Uncertain

It’s been a tough road for Ben Affleck as a superhero. His Daredevil was so brutally panned that he almost turned down the opportunity to play Batman when the role was offered to him by Zack Snyder. Of course, his Dark Knight became a very divisive version of the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League‘s failure did little to help.

If both of those movies had been better received, the planned solo The Batman movie that Affleck was originally writing, directing and starring in before Matt Reeves took the helm and threw out his script would be his third movie in the cowl, but now that is not even certain. In a recent interview, Affleck said that he is open to working within the DC Universe further, but made no mention of playing Batman in Reeves’ (formerly his) movie.

For me, it’s interesting, and I always evaluate this stuff on the merit of the material. I want to direct a ‘Batman’ movie, and I never got a script that I was happy with, so they are starting over and writing another script. And right now, I think a lot of different possibilities I think for the way the DC Universe could go, and I will just follow my interests in pursing that. And I know that I love working with this group of people, and it was a real joy for me to make this movie.

The Batman currently has no release date.

I like Affleck’s Batman, but not his Bruce Wayne. I really don’t care either way if he does another Batman movie or not. If they need “old” Batman, just bring back Christian Bale!
