At Least One Infinity War Character Might Be Gone for Good

Spoilers…

When it comes to debating the numerous deaths in Avengers: Infinity War and just how they will be avenged (read: reversed) in the fourth Avengers movie, there is a debate-within-the-debate about whether all heroes who died will return to life through some use of the Infinity Gauntlet or just those who were turned to dust when Thanos (Josh Brolin) snapped his fingers.

The latter argument contends that, even if the heroes manage to use the Infinity Gauntlet to undo the command or “spell” that Thanos used to turn half of all life in the universe to dust, the deaths that occurred via other means — like the deaths of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Heimdall (Idris Elba) at the hands of Thanos and his minions at the start of the movie, or Gamora’s (Zoe Saldana) death at the hands of her father —  would likely not be reversed.

Adding a bit of credence to that theory is Elba, who recently tweeted a farewell to Heimdall, seemingly indicating that his character’s death will be permanent, even if all of the “dusted” heroes return in Avengers 4.

Avengers: Infinity War was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a script written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The super cast includes Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Bettany as Vision, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Cobie Smulders as Mariah Hill, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, Benedict Wong as Wong, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Racoon, Pom Klementieff as Mantis and Benicio del Toro as the Collector.

Avengers: Infinity War is in theaters now!
