Like the prongs of a trident, Aquaman news comes in three varieties today — yeah, yeah, we know the movie Aquaman’s spear has five points — from a short video of Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard) washing up on shore in Australia, to a shot of Julian Lewis Jones looking badass as the King of Atlantis in Justice League, to a punny tweet from baby-faced director James Wan that the Aquaman solo movie has wrapped production.

Aquaman was written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad) from a story by Wan and Geoff Johns. The cast includes Patrick Wilson as Aquaman’s half-brother, Orm; Temuera Morrison as Aquaman’s father, Thomas Curry; Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, science advisor to the throne of Atlantis; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Aquaman’s archenemy, Black Manta; Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus of the undersea kingdom of Xebel; and Academy Award-winner Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother, Queen Atlanna.
Aquaman is slated to open on December 21, 2018.
